Tell Us About Yourself!
My name’s Anna Kaszuba, I’m proud to be a wolf (from Wolverhampton) although my heritage is Ukrainian, Italian, English and Irish. I’m a dancer, a traveller, a therapist, an auntie, an eco-building enthusiast and gardening ‘give-it-a-go’ er, to divulge a few of my ‘identities’!
How Did You Get Into Massage?
Through dance. I also have a career as a contemporary dancer and massage has naturally and necessarily been a part of the job, whether giving or receiving. In 2014, I decided to become a qualified masseuse, initially to help my dance peers but in actuality, it’s brought more benefits to myself and a much wider range of clients than I had originally planned.
How Would Your Describe Your Style of Massage?
I try to meet the client wherever they’re at at the beginning of a session, emotionally and physically, by listening intently to both words and body language. From there, I can better understand what they may be needing and respond with both my technique and intuition. I approach it almost like a ritual that begins with grounding the body and encouraging presence of mind, often developing into fluid, relaxing or deeper, articulate strokes into a gentle awakening of the senses on completion. A sense of rhythm and presence are absolutely key!
What’s Your Favourite Thing About Mobile-Massage?
The ability to meet clients from various walks of life with differing needs and body types, and the deep exchange of trust that happens between us. The client invites me to work with their body, in their home and as a therapist, I offer my energy and skills to help them meet their need for ease and wellbeing. The balance required – vulnerability with boundaries, professionalism with authentic care, make it a satisfying and meaningful profession for me.
How Long Have You Lived in Bristol?
I’ve lived here for about 6 years and what I love the most is how easy it is to access nature and the wilder surroundings in almost any direction. I find it to be largely an ethically conscious city in terms of its effects on the environment and care for beings, with a friendly, community-led vibe.
When You’re Not Working, What Do You Love To Do?
I consider time well spent when eating and talking around the table with friends, dancing, putting on the walking boots to who knows where, dipping in cold water, making noises, getting creative, getting crafty, sharing cream teas, visiting family and doing nothing knowing it’s never really doing nothing.
