Good massage.
Made easier.
A simple intention.
Relax & Be was created in Bristol in 2014 with a simple intention: to make good massage easier to access, and easier to fit into everyday life.
We live busy lives. Massage is one of the few times we are asked to stop for a while — to be still, to switch off, and to let someone else take care of things for an hour.
It began with one therapist bringing massage into people’s homes. Since then, Relax & Be has grown into a team of independent therapists working across Bristol, while the idea at the centre of it has stayed much the same.

Before Bristol, there was Rosie, a massage table and a habit of turning up at festivals on the Isle of Wight. Spa work filled the gaps. That’s the prequel.
Then came Bristol. Rosie had very little money, but quite a lot of determination and one useful skill: massage. Relax Bristol started wherever there was room to unfold a couch.
Soon the table was appearing at local events too. Relax Bristol was being built in the most literal way possible: one set-up, one client and one very heavy massage couch at a time.
There were fundraisers, pop-ups and other slightly unexpected places to have a massage. If there was floor space, Rosie was interested.
A little help from the New Enterprise Allowance and Outset Bristol turned “perhaps this could work” into an actual mobile massage service.
Then Rosie put out an advert for independent therapists. Before long there was a brilliant little team — and yes, Rosie tested every massage herself. Quality control had its perks.
At home, Rosie was lodging with Krissy — a brilliant photographer with her own professional studio, who also happened to love massage. This was, frankly, an excellent arrangement.
A few massages later, Relax Bristol had proper photographs. Not bad for a marketing budget of approximately nothing.
Around 2015 came Entrepreneurial Spark: pitches, plans and lots of people talking about growth. Rosie briefly wondered whether Relax Bristol was supposed to become enormous.
She didn’t want Relax Bristol to become enormous. But a little bigger than Bristol felt doable, so Relax Bristol became Relax & Be — and the new business cards appeared.
By now Rosie was massaging, networking, listening to marketing podcasts and spending far too much time on a laptop. Relax & Be was taking shape. Rosie was mostly running on coffee, adrenaline and the belief that one more podcast might contain the answer. She was, at this point, spectacularly bad at following her own advice to relax.
Then came another trip back to the Isle of Wight. Friends became models, beautiful places became locations, and this time there was just about enough money to pay the photographer.
With a little help from her friends; the pictures, the people and the feeling started to take shape. Relax & Be was beginning to look much more like the thing Rosie had been carrying around in her head.
Back in Bristol, the therapists practised together, swapped ideas and got to know one another. Small business, proper team.
Gradually, the slightly unusual idea became completely normal: a brilliant therapist arriving at your home, setting up and giving you a proper massage without you going anywhere.
The service settled into its rhythm: therapists travelling across Bristol, clients booking massage at home, and a small business becoming something people came back to.
By the end of the decade, Relax & Be was established as a small, personal Bristol service with a team, regular clients and a clear idea at its centre: good massage, brought to you.
Then 2020 arrived and mobile massage stopped overnight.
We tried to diversify quickly to keep things going.
Massage gradually became permitted again, but the next few years were quieter for Relax & Be. Rosie needed to move back to the Isle of Wight, and rebuilding the service took time.
Rosie went back into full-time employment, so rebuilding Relax & Be became a gradual process — picked up piece by piece around work, with our brilliant admin support Libby keeping things moving behind the scenes.
Slowly the momentum returned.
Which brings us here: a refreshed Relax & Be, still built around the same simple idea that started it all — good massage, made easier, brought to you at home.
From booking to blissfully horizontal.
